Michael Shumaker is a native Texan and has been interested in guns and shooting since he was a young boy. He was a member of the Callahan County 4-H Trap & Skeet Team. He enjoys all shooting sports and is a hunting enthusiast. Michael has completed Defensive Handgun and Team Tactics classes at Thunder Ranch Shooting Facility in Mountain Home, TX; one of the most renowned training facilities in the world.

Michael holds an Associate degree in Gunsmith Technology from Murray State College in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. This gunsmith program is a two year hands-on program. The curriculum includes disassembly and assembly of multiple guns, machine shop training, refinishing classes, and theory classes on gun designs and function. Each student is required to build one rifle and one 1911 Auto. Michael graduated at the top of his class.

In addition, he has completed two classes in the NRA Gunsmithing School. These were ýThe Design & Function of the 1911ý, taught by Bob Dunlap; and ýBuilding a Guild Quality Single Action Revolverý, taught by Larry Crow.

Shumaker worked as a gunsmith in a shop belonging to the head Gunsmithing Instructor during his attendance at Murray State College. He then worked at Hill Country Arms in Kerrville, TX for six years. Michael is a member of the NRA and the American Gunsmith Association. He is proud to own is own shop and serve the shooter and hunters of the Cross Timbers Area.
